Update on the Start of School

Dear HFA: ASAD Parents:

We are so happy to begin this school year in our new, historic location.  The entire staff has been working hard to make sure that this groundbreaking year will be a success for your student.

As you may know, our new building will be in the Casa de Mexico, adjacent to the historic Alameda Theater, at 318 West Houston Street. We are thrilled to offer our students a vibrant learning experience in this unique location.

We were very recently informed that the original contractor designs did not contain sufficient fire alarms and a comprehensive sprinkler system per city code. Therefore, construction must continue in order to meet city occupancy standards, which means we need to adjust our first day of school originally planned for August 26th.

However, not to worry.  Due to our excellent partnership with Texas A & M University San Antonio, we have secured their downtown Museo space for our students. So, school will begin on Tuesday, September 3rd with a Design Boot Camp that will orient and engage your student in our school core values and learning vision. We will also begin work with students in their academic courses so that time is not lost in supporting their learning in core content areas.  This will happen in the Museo space, located in Market Square one block away from our school. We will be in our permanent home at the Casa de Mexico on Monday, September 9.

Our original Open House will continue as planned this Saturday, August 24 from 10am - 12pm at the Casa de Mexico building; members of the leadership team will be available to answer all of your questions and to offer a tour of our new facility. We will also have a Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, August 27 from 6-7:30 p.m. also at the Casa de Mexico.

Our goal is not only to provide high-quality, personalized and innovative education, but our new, downtown location has so much to offer to our students, and the building is truly unique. Thank you for your support, your understanding, and your patience. We look forward to a great year together.

Sincerely,

HFA: ASAD Admin Team
